Waratah aims to supply Australian grain growers with a diverse range of varieties suited to their individual needs and environments. Each varietal package is developed to suit a particular regional area and seed is produced within that region.

Currently, Waratah produces and markets both grain only and dual purpose triticale varieties, feed barley varieties, dual purpose oats and fieldpeas.

Triticale

Endeavour

A semi-awnless dual purpose triticale with excellent dry matter production and grain recovery after grazing. Endeavour has good resistance to both the WA (MR) and Jackie (R) strains of stripe rust strain.

Mid-Late season dual purpose triticale. Stripe rust replacement for Tobruk. Good grain recovery and test weights compared with other grazing varieties

Kokoda

Kokoda triticale from Waratah Seed Co Limited and Sydney University. A dual purpose triticale with excellent grain quality, which is being used in beer production.

similar to QAL2000.

Rycorn

Vampire

Waratah Seeds recommends Vampire Rycorn/ cereal rye for extremely vigorous growth and early grazing. Very suited to poor soils and revegetation projects. 

  • Main season variety. 
  • Good tolerance to Acid soils and high Al. 
  • Improved lodging resistance and grain yield over Ryesun. 
  • Good rotation for suppression of RLN.
